Grants of up to $1,200 plus travel expenses to USA and International professionals for collaborative efforts that address urgent social problems. Collaborative partnerships must be arranged before applying. Funding is intended to support participation in an exchange program and the subsequent presentation of newfound knowledge in the participant's home country. Russian and American professionals will participate in the exchange program for a maximum of two weeks.

Russian and American professionals seeking to collaborate with an international partner(s) in joint pursuit of solutions to issues in one of the four following socially-oriented themes are invited to apply:

  1. Arctic and Environmental Conservation
  2. Indigenous Peoples' Empowerment
  3. Disability and Inclusion
  4. Public Health

Successful applicants will conduct virtual knowledge-exchange sessions with their colleagues from the counterpart country to develop their skills, get exposure to new methods and tools, and expand their professional networks. Upon completion of these sessions, independent professionals will implement activities in their home country to convey or apply their new knowledge and expertise for the benefit of their colleagues and community. These activities must be credibly shown to provide a clear and measurable benefit to at least 250 individuals. Activities may include, but are not limited to, leading training sessions on newly-learned skills, presenting about activities conducted during virtual exchange, practically applying a skill learned virtual exchange, or distributing a product developed in collaboration with overseas partners.

EF will fund innovative ideas that leverage U.S.-Russian cooperation to implement unique solutions to pressing social problems in the above thematic areas. Projects may focus on various topics, including but not limited to increasing the capacity of indigenous people to adapt to environmental changes; increasing involvement of people with disabilities in social life, employment, and sports; and creating initiatives to address community health needs.
