Awards to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia K-8 teachers in eligible counties to recognize outstanding contributions to science education. Nominations, including self-nominations, will be accepted on behalf of teachers in the funding source’s membership area. Award recipients will receive a cash award and plaque during the course of the school year.

Eligible counties within Allegheny and surrounding areas are as follows:

  • Pennsylvania: Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Cumberland, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Perry, Snyder, Somerset, Union, Venango, Warren, Washington, Westmoreland, and York Counties.
  • Ohio: Belmont, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Mahoning, Monroe, and Trumbull Counties.
  • West Virginia: Barbour, Braxton, Brooke, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Hancock, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Randolph, Ritchie, Taylor, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Webster, Wentzel, Wirt, and Wood Counties.

Number of Grants:

A maximum of three winners will be awarded.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The award consists of a plaque and monetary award to be presented during the 2020-2021 school year.

Term of Contract:

Awards will be presented during the 2020-2021 school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

This program is open to any certified state of PA science teachers grades K-8 within Allegheny and surrounding county schools.

Self-nominations will be accepted as long as the building principal adds a recommendation.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline for submission is April 19, 2021.

Once completed, the application is valid for two years.
